NewsWave

Created by open source ECM pioneers, for and with major press agencies and major media groups, Nuxeo NewsWave is the editorial system enabling them to meet their customers’ emerging needs (on-demand services, web, video, multimedia, mobile, …), from feed browsing and multimedia content production to actual product rendering and delivery.


Nuxeo NewsWave enables editors to create innovative multimedia documents (text, images, videos, sounds, …) from incoming feeds (either internal or external), with a fully customizable console.

Information feeds are directly displayed within the editors’ console, together with their semantic metadata, that can be enriched at will, either automatically or manually, thus allowing real-time complex filtering.

Document authoring may be achieved in a collaborative way: depending on their own access rights, editors may be able to see who’s working on which topic and may, at any time, ask for complementary informations or contribute to a larger editorial project.

The editors’ console includes user friendly and productivity tools (writing guidelines, rich text editor, image editor, customized dictionaries, dynamic information feeds, live multi-format previews, intuitive editorial sections, …) easing the document authoring. Once published in one or several sections, a document is ready to be sent to customers.

All the documents related to a given customer’s order are formatted and delivered according to its preferences. The entire capture, production and delivery cycle seamlessly integrates within each agencies’ environment: RSS feeds, aggregator feeds (Factiva, Lexis/Nexis, …), picture feeds (Getty, AFP, PA, PixPalace, Corbis, …), IPTC metadata.

The new challenges for Press Agencies

Encouraged by the development of online media (web and mobiles), press agencies are compelled to move from news wires production to more sophisticated structured multimedia products, customized and that can even be produced on-demand.

To allow this shift from wire-oriented production to rich multimedia products, IT teams, editors and marketing teams had to be very creative and smart to adapt the existing editorial systems. However, these systems have reached now their limits: lack of adaptability, expensive maintenance, non-intuitive interface, impairing the sales development of agencies and their ability to meet customers’ needs.
